Students vs locals in a Maldivian game of cricket
COUNTRY: Maldives
PROGRAM: UniBreak
PROJECT: Teaching & Swimming Coaching
WRITTEN BY: University of Sydney, Education students
As the second week of teaching comes to a close, things are only looking up. On the last teaching day of the week we put together a sports afternoon with games including Frisbee and cricket at Sharrafudin School. Everyone who participated had an amazing time.
At the end of the session it became teachers against students in a game of cricket, and although the teachers fought hard it was the students who won. Then it was time to conclude the session with the teachers versing the students in a game of ultimate Frisbee. Again although the teachers tried their hardest, it was the students who took victory.
In the afternoon we gave the final swimming lesson of the week, and it was amazing to see students who could not even get in the water at the beginning of the week kicking with a kickboard and even blowing bubbles. Then it was the weekend and some of us stayed behind at the guesthouse whilst the rest of us travelled to Equator Village resort. After a day of pampering it was time to return to the guesthouse. Some of us then went back for the final day of the weekend and it was time for a final pamper before getting ready for the final teaching week.
