Jambo Jambo from Tanzania! One month down and we are finally back home in Tanga. The last week in Kenya was excellent, including a safari and climbing a mountain... on our supposed 'rest day'.....
The safari which took place in Tsavo East National Park was amazing. We saw plenty and plenty of Temba (elephants), Twigga (giraffes) and Pundamilia (zebras, which left Hannah a very very happy girl!) Our first animal encounter was a massive heard of buffalo, they are quite scary looking creatures! Then we were lucky enough to see two Simba, a lion and his lioness.
The drive in our open safari truck left us all with a beautiful glowing brown tan, we were all very excited until the inch thick layer of dust was washed off and we were pale once more. The next day we all woke bright and early, ready to climb Mt Kasigau.

We were informed it would take two hours to climb up, two hours break and then two hours back down. "You'll be home by 3" they said.. "It's and easy climb" they said... 9 hours later we returned to camp thoroughly exhausted. The actual climb was very steep and slippery, however very enjoyable. the views were beautiful. Coming back down was very eventful. we soon found out the best way to descend was to slide down the mud on our bums. A symphony of screams and laughter echoed around the mountain for 30 minutes.

Leaving Kenya was a sad affair, we had to say goodbye to our 1-monthers and the amazing kitchen staff at Tsavo, everyone was quite on the bus ride that day. However as soon as we reached Tanga and drove through Mwambaini spirits rose. I think everyone has grown so attached to this village we actually refer to it as home. Work has been resumed on the trust house, and it is coming along nicely. The inside and black board has all been plastered and is ready for the second layer and the paint. Plastering outside is taking longer as we are all starting to feel the heat! so everything is very poley poley (slowly slowly) here.

A new group of 11 have just arrived, which will hopefully mean work will be completed faster. They are all so lovely and we are looking forward to the next month together.
Us Aussies have been busy planning a relaxing trip to Zanzibar... Much recruitment! Everyone is Raha Sana ( very happy!! ) and getting along nicely!
We hope everyone back home is well.

Until next time
Love Hannah, Abi, Larissa, Sophie and Beth.
