We began our second day at our lovely hotel and ate a delicous breakfast before taking a long Tuk-Tuk ride to the location of the former Killing Fields. The experience was quite confronting for all of us, as we were walking through the locations of the deaths of thousands of people. It was difficult to imagine that this peaceful location was the site of such horror. After the Killing Fields, we ventured to S-21: a former high school that was made a prison during the Khmer Rogue regime. This location was probably more confronting than the last, and we left feeling quite low.
That aftertoon, we decided to lighten our spirits by visiting the central markets, after which some of us were treated to a massage at "Seeing Hands Massage". The centre was run by completely blind masseuses, so the aim was to support their self-sufficiency. Those of us who had a massage were very satisfied!
After that, we had a lovely dinner at a local restaurant and went back home to our warm beds.
