So far, the trip has been breath-taking.
The initial onslaught of travel (2 planes and a bus) were enough to tire us out. Our first Indian city, Kolkata, was a culture shock. Every car beeping from every direction, people all over the place, dogs roaming the streets, and the smell was something we weren't exactly used to, but we were still loving it. We looked at an Armenian college and walked around the city, having dinner on the town. Then we were off to Siliguri via overnight train, which was an experience in itself - no doors in the triple-bunk "cabins", so we kept a close eye on our gear. The train arrived an hour late in a nearby city to Siliguri when it got to the end of the line, but working through adversity, we found a bank of jeeps and organised travel to Gangtok (where we are now). We went up to Tsomgo Lake, in the mountains, and had a fantastic day there today. We had yak rides and took lots of photos. Gangtok is beautiful. We'll be uploading photos soon! Tomorrow we'll be off to Ravangla for the community project. We're looking forward to it. We miss everyone back home. See you soon!
