Hi! This weekend we headed off to Dehli for a long weekend.
Getting on the sleeper train with our triple bunks was quite an experience in itself with Rs5 (about 5c) cup of tea and all walks of life getting on and off. Dehli a much more modern city than what we were used to, and had many more western influenced restaurants and shops. We went to an American diner for Breakfast pancakes, bacon and milkshakes at 7am - win!
We also visited some cool sites in Dehli including:
Humayun Tomb: A lot of French tourists and eagles around the detailed marble and beautiful gardens.
The Red Fort: Made of a red rock it had many different buildings inside it including a war museum and the suffrage of India museum, which were both were very interesting. Lots of chipmunks(?) and lots of sneaky pictures being taken of us as per usual!
Lotus Temple: At first glance looks a little like the Sydney opera house, the matching white tiles shaped as a giant lotus is beautiful designed and architectually stunning to see from a distance and up close. It's a very popular temple to visit which was reflected by the huge crowds.
It was quite hot in Dehli so we spent the rest of the time in the pool or in air conditioned comfort. All in all everyone enjoyed the comfy beds and hot showers before heading back on the train.
Back home, we now have 2 new girls from the UK in the house after saying goodbye to our last UK group. Due to a festival in town, we've had yesterday and today of school, so have been spending the time exploring Udaipur.
Until next time!
